Cherry Bloom

As of this day there has not been any frost damage on cherries. We are at the peak of cherries blooming this week with rain impending later this week. We are busy spraying fungicides to protect the flowers from blossom blight and brown rot and mildew. There are some unusual blooming or spread out bloom on a few fields (lack of chill), most fields are showing pollinators blooming with main cultivar. The rest-breaking products used this season have worked well, for the most part and if the chilling portions were adequate per cultivar. Cherry maturity for harvest depending on heat units during growing period from 80% bloom ranges 51-60 days. Minor and major nutrients for the tree and fruit growth are starting to be applied.
